Dhamana Guarantee Company has successfully closed the Ofgen–Safaricom renewable energy transaction, a pioneering $20 million facility designed to finance the construction of 500 solarised telecom tower sites across Kenya. The transaction was structured with Dhamana providing a takeout guarantee to support the refinancing of Middle East Bank’s $20 million bridge facility.
The deal underscores the catalytic role Dhamana plays in mobilising institutional capital for climate-aligned infrastructure. By structuring credit enhancement appropriately, Dhamana enabled lenders to confidently back a project that advances energy security and carbon reduction for Kenya’s largest telecom operator.
This milestone demonstrates how Dhamana’s guarantee unlocks scale, crowding in private capital for complex infrastructure while de-risking strategic projects that have both commercial and climate impact.
