Summary
The workshop will bring together ESAK members and electricity sector stakeholders to explore how guarantee solutions can help address financing constraints and unlock affordable, long-term capital for energy projects in Kenya. Through practical discussions and a real transaction case study, participants will gain a better understanding of Dhamana’s guarantee solutions and how they can support project development, infrastructure investment and capital mobilisation.
Details
The session will provide an introduction to the guarantee business, covering key concepts, best practices and the role of guarantees in de-risking projects and improving access to financing. Participants will also explore Dhamana’s role in mobilising capital for the electricity sector, with a practical application using the Ofgen–Safaricom renewable energy transaction to demonstrate how guarantees can support the financing of renewable energy projects. The workshop will conclude with an interactive discussion, providing an opportunity for ESAK members to engage directly on financing challenges, potential projects and how Dhamana’s solutions can support their capital mobilisation efforts.
